ALBON's debut post is officially here!!! Here is what you need to know: At ALBON, founded in 2023, based out of Sydney, Australia, our team is building a new approach to wastewater treatment that combines algae and bacteria to remove nutrients from wastewater while capturing carbon and producing useful biomass (bio-char). The goal is simple: make high-performance wastewater treatment more affordable, lower-energy and easier to deploy for industries such as dairy, meat and food processing. ALBON is striving to tackle the wider wastewater problem in Australia, then eventually setting our sights on the global system. Wastewater treatment requires extreme cost to maintain and with tighter regulations on how much wastewater dump is accepted, industrial processing facilities are struggling to maintain standards. Globally, only around 52% of wastewater is treated, with the remaining 48% being streamed into our waterways, contributing to climate change with nitrogen and phosphorus leakage. With our cost-effective solution, we seek to change that. Over the past year, that has taken us from laboratory development through to preparations for our first paid dairy deployment, alongside continued work on our patent-pending reactor, controls system and scale-up pathway.
