When most people think about child slave and/or forced labor, they often don't realize how much of it is tied to the food and agricultural commodities that we consume every single day.
The numbers from the USDA's Bureau of International Labor Affairs tell the story clearly. Looking at sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, and mining and quarrying, agriculture has by far the strongest association with both child labor and forced labor.
This may be the most hidden form of exploitation of all.
I highly recommend this report for anyone wanting to explore which goods are produced using child labor or forced labor, and which countries carry the highest risk.
The more awareness we bring to this issue, the more light we can shine on it. And the more we can help mitigate it as industry professionals.
