Bringing ancient forests back to lifeπ²πΏ
Archangel Ancient Tree Archive is preserving the genetics of some of the world's oldest trees to help restore native forests. By propagating ancient sequoias and redwoods from small branch cuttings, the nonprofit is growing resilient trees that have survived thousands of years of wildfires, droughts, and disease.
These forests store large amounts of carbon, improve water and soil quality, and provide habitats for countless species. With restoration projects already underway in seven countries, the initiative aims to help safeguard these ecosystems for future generations. π
Could preserving ancient genetics become a key strategy for restoring forests worldwide?
