About our project.
PROBLEM:
After storm Vaia, the fragility of Alpine forests became clear. Forest managers now face drought, invasive insects, and rapid change often without the right digital tools to respond.
INSPIRATION:
Seeing forests change without being able to “hear” them inspired us to create something simple yet intelligent a system that gives nature a voice through data.
OUR SOLUTION:
Foremyc is a modular ecosystem of sensors that monitors soil, microclimate, tree growth, and insect presence. The collected data builds a digital twin of the forest, enabling predictive and resilient management.
HOW IT WORKS:
TERRAE measures soil and light, ABES detects insects through an optical sensor, FOMES tracks growth and trunk movement, and GIBBA sends all data to the cloud via LoRaWAN. A dashboard visualizes everything clearly for technicians and forest consortia.
WHAT’S NEXT:
We’re improving the outdoor durability of the devices and developing a platform accessible to both professionals and citizens. The goal is to let every forest tell its story in real time.
