Volunteer Opportunity in Uganda – Restore Smiles in Kigezi
The Roots of Impact Development Initiative (formerly Kigezi Orphans Project) is warmly inviting qualified dental volunteers to come and serve communities in the beautiful Kigezi Region of South Western Uganda.
Why We Need You
In many rural communities of Kigezi, access to professional dental care is very limited. Many children and adults are suffering from:
Severe tooth decay
Gum infections
Tooth pain and abscesses
Missing or damaged teeth
Poor oral hygiene due to lack of awareness and dental supplies
Because of these challenges, many people are living in pain and have lost confidence in their smiles. In Kigezi today, the smile is fading due to untreated dental problems — but together, we can restore it.
What Volunteers Will Do
Dental volunteers will:
Provide free dental check-ups and treatment
Perform basic procedures such as extractions and fillings
Conduct oral health education sessions in schools and communities
Train local health workers on basic dental hygiene practices
Support school-based dental outreach programs
We aim to organize dental camps in rural schools, churches, and community centers to reach the most vulnerable families.
Who Can Apply?
We are looking for:
Qualified dentists
Dental therapists or hygienists
Final-year dental students (with supervision)
Retired dental professionals willing to serve
Volunteers can come individually or as a team.
What We Offer
Local coordination and community mobilization
Support with accommodation arrangements
Cultural experience in the beautiful hills of Kigezi
Opportunity to make real, lasting impact
Why Kigezi?
Kigezi is known for its stunning hills and hardworking communities, but dental services are scarce in rural areas. Your service will not only relieve pain but also restore dignity, confidence, and hope.
Come and help us bring back the smile to Kigezi.
