For over a decade, @umgrauemeio.insp.social have been working at the frontlines of wildfire prevention, protecting tropical forests, wetlands, and productive forestry and agricultural landscapes from increasingly destructive fires. Abrace a Floresta – Embrace the Forest was created to bridge two worlds that are rarely connected at scale: advanced environmental technology and the traditional knowledge of frontline communities who live with fire every day. By combining real-time monitoring, data intelligence, and community-based action, the initiative transforms wildfire management from a reactive response into a coordinated, preventive system. What began in Brazil has evolved into a globally recognized approach. Abrace a Floresta has received multiple international awards and recognitions, and its model has been tested and adapted across different ecological and cultural contexts—from tropical forests and wetlands in South America to tiger reserves in India. In 2024, the initiative was awarded for implementation in Collserola Natural Park, marking its expansion into Europe.
