Diary of a Carbon Removal Startup CEO: 2024 in Review

2024 was a milestone year for Tao Climate. We were named one of the world’s Top 100 carbon removal companies by Elon Musk’s XPRIZE Carbon Removal initiative, secured investment from Enterprise Ireland, and joined the European Space Agency’s space technology incubation programme. Winning the Three Ireland Business Award further validated our mission to drive innovation and sustainability.
A key focus this year was engaging the aviation industry at events like Future Travel Experience in Dublin and the World Aviation Festival in Amsterdam. We showcased our Lift Decarbonisation Programme and MRV platform, which offers unprecedented transparency and trust in carbon removal efforts. Aviation, responsible for 2.5% of global CO₂ emissions, is primed for transformation, and we’re driving that change.
Challenges included managing investment funds, achieving product-market fit for our platform, and staying optimistic amid climate disasters and political turmoil. Yet, our growing team’s resilience and belief in our mission kept us moving forward.
If 2024 proved anything, it’s that decarbonisation isn’t just necessary—it’s possible. Tao Climate is leading the charge, one breakthrough at a time.
