The Wild Mile is the world's first-ever floating eco-park, located in the heart of a city. Floating artificial wetlands create habitat for native wildlife, and an ADA-accessible boardwalk creates community access to nature. Root systems provide aquatic structure, hosting microbial communities, sequestering nutrients, and improving water quality. Designed to be installed within existing industrial infrastructure, the concepts and designs behind the Wild Mile will work in virtually any urban waterway worldwide. Since the below video was published, we've doubled the length of the Wild Mile, and installed two additional floating wetland projects at other points along the Chicago River. Next, we're planning for the future - creating guidelines and toolkits to help similar projects get off the ground in other cities! youtu.be/6a4Q0vaGgqo?...
