Here’s a story we don’t talk about enough:
When pasture becomes degraded and unproductive, family ranchers fall into a trap—low yields become low cashflow, and without long-term capital there’s no way to recover the land. So when input-heavy row-crop agriculture shows up with capital, the offer to lease or sell is hard to refuse.
The ranch becomes cropland… but the cattle doesn’t disappear. It moves. That displacement (“leakage”) pushes pressure into new frontiers.
Working Trees is building a better, nature-positive path: silvopasture at scale—restoring degraded pasture while integrating ~180 trees/ha (at least 50% native species) to create biodiversity corridors, improve drought resilience, and generate long-term timber value that transforms the lives of family ranchers. Harvested teak and mahogony can also replace demand for hardwoods, often illegally harvested.
Carbon isn’t the product—it’s the financing mechanism that helps fund the transition up front, supported by long term contracted offtake.
We’ve already planted 2,200 ha with ranchers in Brazil and scaling toward a 50,000 ha flagship—designed to become a repeatable million-hectare platform with gigaton removal potential.
👉 If you want to help keep ranchers on their land, regenerate landscapes, and stop leakage-driven deforestation pressure, we’d love your support:
• Investors: we’re raising our Seed round to scale the team + platform and unlock project finance for rapid hectare deployment.
• Partners: offtake, project finance, upfront funding, and implementation collaborators welcome.
• Introductions: if you know climate VCs, impact/blended finance, or corporate buyers, please connect us.
