Eco Wave Power has developed an innovative technology to produce clean electricity from ocean and sea waves. Its goal is to generate clean, affordable energy using a smart, simple design that attaches floaters to existing man-made structures, simplifying installation, maintenance, and accessibility. With energy identified by the UN as the leading cause of climate change—responsible for 60% of global greenhouse gas emissions—there is an urgent need for cleaner energy production. Since much of the global population lives along coastlines, wave energy offers a sustainable alternative to polluting sources. EWP supports this transition by providing an innovative, reliable clean energy solution. Ecologically, wave energy is a vital renewable source for climate change mitigation. Given its vast global potential, EWP’s system could become a leading clean energy provider for countries, cities, and coastal communities. According to EWP, a 1MW wave power station with a 42% capacity factor can generate 3,695,712 kWh of clean electricity annually—avoiding 2,613 metric tons of CO₂ emissions, equal to emissions from 294,027 gallons of gasoline. Socially and economically, EWP’s technology supports clean energy access in remote areas and helps reduce pollution. It is projected to create significant direct and indirect employment in Europe across all project phases—licensing, feasibility, environmental studies, and planning. Engineering roles (mechanical, hydraulic, civil, electrical, automation) and construction jobs (civil engineers, welders, electricians, technicians) will be needed, along with long-term roles in operations and maintenance over the 25-year lifespan of the stations. Deploying 100GW of ocean energy would establish a new industry and major job market.
