UK summers are getting hotter, and overheating is becoming a growing challenge for buildings and our cities. At Emissiv, we've created a radiative cooling paint for passive, electricity-free cooling - it's market-ready and a scalable alternative to power‑hungry HVACs that paradoxically heat up our planet. Coatings remain one of the most overlooked tools in climate adaptation. They quietly shape the resilience of the UK’s built environment every day, yet rarely feature in the ClimateTech conversation. That’s why it was such a privilege to recently represent the sector with the British Coatings Federation at the Houses of Parliament, helping bring UK coatings innovation into national discussions on heat resilience and the future of our cities. We’d be grateful for your support in the competition - your vote helps bring visibility to coatings innovation and the role it can play in helping our cities adapt to rising temperatures. Thank you! Co-founders, Sandra & Nikhil

As part of the Royce Catalyst programme - a brilliant UK initiative where PhD students team up with start-ups to get a taste of entrepreneurship - our student team produced this video for their pitch night yesterday. What a fun way to show how Emissiv's paints are making cities heat resilient again. Like our polar bear friends... if you need cooling, you know what to do! Huge thanks to Ehsan Akbari Khajari (Swansea University), Samane Gholami (Lancaster University), Ruqayya Aziz (Lancaster University) and Mantas Drelingas (Oxford University) for your energy and creativity. We hope this experience has inspired you to keep exploring entrepreneurship alongside your research, and we’re wishing you all the best as you continue your PhD journey!!!

We're excited to introduce Emissiv! We're a ClimateTech start-up based at Imperial College London, making paints to cool buildings and thermal modelling software to verify it. Our radiative cooling paints emit infrared heat directly into space to cool by over 15°C, save air-con use by 20% and can prevent up to 200 megatons of CO2e if scaled up globally. We're taking climate impact further by developing the world's first recycled radiative cooling paint - upcycling the 34 million litres of paint discarded in the UK and reducing landfill, emissions and costs. We're piloting in the UK with innovation-forward companies such as the Earls Court Development Company, Places for People and Careys. If you're exploring sustainable cooling solutions for your real assets, we'd be excited to connect. Let's build the future of cooling, together!
