I have developed a working plan for an app, based on existing technology, which would rectify this global problem, which negatively impacts both environmental (smog/climate), economic issues on an extremely large scale, and personal life quality questions.
The app, with the preliminary name "Flo+", should not require expensive programming since the primary technologies are presently available to almost every vehicle operator.
What I need are a few people (computer programmers, app developers, sales individuals, business/financial wizards etc.) who are willing to invest (their time/expertise, no financial investment required) in getting this project across the finish line.
The return on investment should be enormous, since every municipality globally would experience large benefits (due to reduced 'stop 'n go' traffic (twice a day during rush hours) from implementing this low-cost solution.
Just arrived home having travelled the highway (E4) through Stocholm.
Average traffic saw 25-30 mph speeds for the bulk of the journey.
Every so often sudden deceleration was required, due to somebody ahead braking hard.
In moderate traffic, with reasonable distance to the car in front of you, hard braking is NEVER needed.
This traffic pattern is easily recognized as the 'accordian effect', when a lane slows (often to a halt), then resumes speed.
Also known as 'Stop 'n Go' trafic.
This mostly unecessary behavioral problem is EXTREMELY costly for our planet (emissions), business revenues (lost productivity), personal safety (health/collisions, insurance costs) and time losses etc.
The value of improving these conditions, for communities/nations, must be nearly immeasurable.
A profit calculation (value) for developers of FLO+ equally so./
