Thank you to the Polish Medical Research Agency (ABM) Agencja Badań Medycznych for an excellent conference held on December 5th, 2025, in Warsaw. Poland is steadily becoming an important hub for medical and pharmaceutical innovation. Since the high scientific and organizational quality of the event has already been widely commented on, I would like to highlight three points raised today that, in my view, are particularly important from the perspective of patients and potential clinical trial participants:
1) The insufficient level of patient awareness regarding clinical trials – specifically, the need to emphasize that clinical trials offer access to cutting-edge therapies. Safety is, of course, paramount, but clinical research also represents a tremendous opportunity for patients.
2) The relatively low adoption of the mojeIKP application.
3) The need to further promote the mission and role of the Medical Research Agency itself.
Long-term funding of non-commercial clinical trials directly strengthens Poland’s overall resilience across multiple dimensions and ultimately creates pathways toward potential commercialization.
My sincere congratulations to all panelists. I was glad to speak briefly with ABM Vice President Ireneusz Staroń and I must admit—somewhat paradoxically—that I was positively impressed by the fact that the Agency is forced to reject very strong project proposals simply due to limited resources. Given that ABM’s funding levels are already substantial, this can only mean one thing: Polish researchers are operating at a genuinely world-class level.
