πππ§ΉWater-free maintenance for solar farms.
Solar farms lose up to 30% of their panel efficiency in just one month due to dust buildup, and traditional cleaning methods use around 30 billion gallons of fresh water every year, enough to meet the needs of 2 million people.
Engineers at MIT have created a waterless, no-contact system that uses electrostatic repulsion to clear dust from solar panels. A transparent conductive layer charges with a small voltage, pushing particles away and restoring as much as 95% of lost power without scratching the surface.
Could this be the future of solar panel maintenance?
