Swedish company CorPower Ocean has developed sea buoys that generate power by moving with waves. Inspired by the pumping action of the human heart, each buoy tunes itself to match incoming wave rhythms, capturing up to three times more energy than traditional devices. When storms hit, the system detunes to protect itself. Full-scale units are now feeding electricity into the grid off the coast of Portugal.
