In Stockholm, electric hydrofoil ferries are transforming public transport by lifting above the water on underwater wings. By reducing drag by up to 80%, they travel faster while using significantly less energy than conventional ferries.
The results are impressive: travel times on a 15 km route have been cut from nearly an hour to around 30 minutes, CO₂ emissions have fallen by more than 90%, and energy use has dropped by roughly 66%. The quieter, low wake design also helps protect shorelines and improve passenger comfort.
