Cork as renewable façade material – mounted, not glued
Used in a timber frame system and mounted instead of glued, cork remains fully recyclable and repairable. Together with a manufacturer, we have found a way to assemble this material.
The façade combines insulation, durability, and low embodied energy — proving that sustainable construction can be both technical and honest.
Material choices shape long-term impact: To ensure that the buildings are recyclable, we use sheep's wool for insulation and wood for interior cladding, including lightweight wood. We focus on screw connections wherever possible and largely avoid using adhesives.
