Biotechnology is introducing a major shift in how we protect our food supply from evolving DISEASES.
UK startup Resurrect Bio just formalized a massive development agreement with global seed breeder Bejo to engineer durable, non-transgenic disease resistance in commercial spinach crops.
Instead of using conventional genetic modification to introduce foreign DNA, Resurrect Bio is deploying its AI platform, FloraFold, to map plant-pathogen dynamics and fix broken immune signaling cascades inherent to the plant's existing genome. By repairing these native receptor sequences, they reactivate the crop's built-in defenses.
It proves we don't need to spray more chemicals to protect fields; we need to fix the internal software of the seeds themselves.
I think biological restoration might completely replace chemical crop protection within the decade.
