Branding Capabilities
When it comes to branding myself, I often find myself facing a dilemma. Recently, I moved from Connor Willoughby Ventures, to Connor Willoughby Wealth Management, and now to Connor Willoughby Portfolio.
Why?
Because sometimes the hardest pill to swallow is the truth.
When you back companies you admire, it's easy to become attached to a brand that sounds bigger than the reality. I found myself liking the idea of being associated with "wealth management," when in reality I'm simply building and sharing my own investment portfolio.
The truth is, I wasn't any richer or poorer than I was the day before. Only the name had changed.
Accepting reality can be uncomfortable. As founders and investors, we naturally want to present the strongest version of ourselves. But over time I've come to believe that authenticity builds more trust than perception ever could.
So this wasn't a step backwards it was a step closer to reality.
Sometimes swallowing the hard pill of truth hurts more than avoiding it.
But facing reality is how you grow.
