OpenAI has signed a multi-year agreement with Nvidia-backed Firmus to secure computing capacity from two artificial intelligence data centres in Malaysia. The deal makes OpenAI an anchor customer and takes Firmus' contracted capacity across customers above 900 megawatts. Firmus, valued at more than $10.5 billion in its latest fundraising, is preparing five additional AI data centres across the Asia-Pacific region and plans to deploy Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin processors at scale.
British semiconductor materials company IQE has meanwhile returned to a first-half core profit as demand connected to AI and data centres strengthened. The company also intends to move its shares from London's AIM market to the main market during the first half of 2027.
