Qualcomm has struck a major long-term artificial intelligence chip agreement with Amazon, giving the cloud giant the ability to purchase up to $60 billion of Qualcomm data-centre chips and related products. Amazon also received warrants worth about $4 billion that could allow it to buy up to 25 million Qualcomm shares at $161.26 each. The companies will develop custom processors focused on AI inference alongside high-speed optical connectivity technology. European artificial intelligence company Mistral has raised €3 billion at a valuation of around €21 billion, or $24 billion, in the largest equity funding round secured by a privately owned European technology company. Mistral says the funding will support frontier research and development of its AI models, while the company is on track to reach $1 billion in annual recurring revenue by the end of 2026.
Samsung has also announced a strategic partnership with Mistral that will bring the French company's AI technology into Samsung's semiconductor operations. Work is underway.
