Daily Market & Technology Information – Sunday 13th September 2026
Good morning, and welcome to today's Daily Market & Technology Information.
Corporate & Technology
OpenAI has ruled out an initial public offering in 2026 as chief executive Sam Altman emphasizes the safety risks created by advanced artificial intelligence. Altman said the possibility of advanced AI causing catastrophic harm is unacceptable and argued that leading developers and governments need coordination. The decision separates OpenAI from rival Anthropic, which is still preparing for a possible public-market debut, later this year.
Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei has meanwhile called on AI companies to slow the development of increasingly powerful models and adopt stronger safeguards. His proposed framework includes independent evaluators working inside AI laboratories, common safety standards across the industry and international cooperation. The intervention follows growing concern about autonomous systems being used for cyberattacks, fraud and other harmful activity.
Technology & Infrastructure
Nvidia is expanding artificial intelligence infrastructure capacity in Australia through partnerships with local data-centre operators. The programme is intended to secure additional land, power and facilities capable of hosting multiple generations of Nvidia's AI systems as demand for sovereign computing capacity increases. Nvidia is also working with Skild AI on robotics technology that can teach machines new tasks from video demonstrations, potentially reducing the need for extensive manual programming.
