Daily Market & Technology Information – Friday 18th September 2026
Good morning, and welcome to today's Daily Market & Technology Information.
Corporate & Technology
Applied Materials has announced plans to invest $5 billion in India over the next decade as the semiconductor-equipment group expands its research, engineering and supply-chain presence. The commitment highlights India's growing ambition to become a larger participant in global chip manufacturing.
China's ChangXin Memory Technologies, or CXMT, is meanwhile preparing to enter the flash-memory market, according to Reuters. Already a major Chinese producer of DRAM, CXMT is seeking to expand as demand for memory used in electronics, data centres and artificial-intelligence infrastructure remains strong.
Artificial Intelligence & Technology
Investment in AI infrastructure continues to accelerate. Crusoe has raised $3.9 billion in a Series F financing round at a reported $30.9 billion post-money valuation. The company says it has over six gigawatts of contracted capacity, illustrating the capital required to build data centres for advanced AI workloads.
GlobalFoundries and Marvell are also expanding US manufacturing capacity for silicon-germanium technology used in high-speed optical connections. Faster networking is increasingly important as AI data centres connect larger processor clusters.
