We don’t just collect and recycle plastic. With our corporate partners, we take it a step further by building real waste management systems hand in hand with local communities, in countries lacking infrastructure and financing. We stop plastic just before it reaches the environment.
Welcome to the Second Life project! Let’s be straightforward, if you choose to vote for us and we win the €20,000 prize, here’s exactly what will happen:
1. We will 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝟮𝟬 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 from East Kalimantan, Indonesia - the very area you see in the video.
2. This project will 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝟯𝟬 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀, providing fair income for their essential work.
3. We will organize 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴, mobilizing an extra 30 paid local collectors to remove 𝟭 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲. This waste will be transported to Java for proper processing, ensuring it does not end up in landfills or the environment.
4. We will 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 on plastic pollution and waste segregation, empowering communities to become leaders in local waste management.
5. And beyond that, this additional income will positively impact over 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀.
You often wonder how we can make a difference? This is exactly one of those moments 🚀

“Usually, the people who collect on the beach are among the poorest, and this is where I have always found my legitimacy: working with groups of disadvantaged communities, whether with Alter Eco, PUR or with Second Life, because companies have difficulty to work with the informal sector, but it’s exactly where we bring an added value.” Tristan Lecomte, Founder of Alter Eco, PUR and Second Life.
They are not just part of the solution, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁.
