What if agricultural heating could help pay for itself? It can... We’re developing Crypto Crops, a new approach to distributed agricultural energy that turns heat generated by digital compute infrastructure into productive energy for farms. The model is simple: Electricity → Compute → Digital Revenue + Recoverable Heat → Agriculture Instead of rejecting the heat produced by Bitcoin mining, Crypto Crops captures it for applications such as greenhouse heating, dairy hot-water preheating and agricultural processing. The result is one electricity input producing two sources of value: Useful thermal energy for agriculture Bitcoin revenue that can help offset operating costs We call the model Distributed Thermal Compute. Crypto Crops is now moving into its validation phase. We are developing three instrumented Australian pilot sites to prove the metrics that matter: installed cost, useful heat delivered, system availability, farm savings and repeatable deployment economics. The project remains pre-commercial, so these are deliberately validation targets rather than promises dressed up in a nice graph. As part of my role as CTO at realmgroup.global we are looking for an Australian farm to host the first Crypto Crops pilot via the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Crypto Crops captures the waste heat produced by Bitcoin mining and uses it to provide continuous heating for greenhouses, hot water, frost protection and other on-farm applications. The idea is simple: instead of wasting the heat from Bitcoin Mining it is put to work while the mining operation generates revenue that helps offset the cost of producing that heat. We're looking for Australian ONLY (at this stage) growers, dairy operators, protected cropping businesses and other farms with a genuine heating requirement who are interested in trialing an innovative rural energy solution.
